Twelve years of laser tag, milsim and historical reenactment aren't just a hobby. They're the foundation for building historically grounded DCS missions, with real tactics, credible orders of battle and operational contexts that come from the field, not from Wikipedia.
Flight simulation
DCS World is the most realistic air-combat simulator available to the public. Every system is faithfully modelled: from the flight model to cockpit procedures, from fuel management to weapons employment. I'm one of the founders of the 104th White Wyverns, our virtual squadron, and we're part of JATF (Joint Air Task Force) as a flight group within the largest Italian DCS community.
For modern flying we mainly use the F/A-18C Hornet, a carrier-based multirole strike fighter. For Cold War scenarios we fly the F-4 Phantom II and the F-14 Tomcat, two icons of the aviation of that era. For close air support and reconnaissance we use the AH-64 Apache.

104th White Wyverns
The White Wyverns are our virtual squadron on DCS World. A group of pilots that shares the same approach to simulation: procedural rigour, carefully designed missions and coordinated crew flying. You don't take off without a briefing.
Every mission is designed in-house, with a credible geopolitical scenario, a defined order of battle and objectives derived from real tactics. No procedural generation — every sortie has a story.
Full startup checklist, radio communications on real frequencies, coordination with GCI and AWACS. A procedural mistake has consequences — just like in reality.
Every flight is analysed with the Mission Tracker, a custom dashboard that records positions, engagements and decisions. The post-flight is an integral part of the training.
Missions aren't isolated — they're part of campaigns with persistent state. The decisions of one sortie influence the next. The theatre evolves.

JATF, Joint Air Task Force
JATF is the main Italian DCS World community. It brings together Italian virtual pilots of all levels, from enthusiasts to simulation veterans, with a structure organised into squadrons, monthly events and shared campaigns.
- Bi-weekly operations coordinated across multiple squadrons, 25-40 pilots per session
- Horizontal structure: each squadron keeps its autonomy and sends representatives to the meetings
- Standardised radio procedures via SRS (SimpleRadio Standalone)
- Virtual GCI and ATC active during operations with LotAtC
- Operational theatres: Caucasus, Syria, Persian Gulf

Milsim & Reenactment
Before the simulator there was the field. Twelve years of tactical laser tag, milsim and historical reenactment built an understanding of operational dynamics that no manual can convey. That experience is the foundation of everything else.
